I'm loving it! So much detail.
Stunning!
Have no room but will end up buying
Love all the detailing! Hasbro have done a great job, not really sure how takara could improve on it. I'll be interested to know if they've kept the walking gimmick and if it will the voice gimmick like metroplex and fort max?
I look forward to seeing it next to metroplex. I'm surprised it is so similar to the G1 version given metroplex.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!! It was all over my Twitter and Instagram feeds this morning, it was really nice to wake up to this surprise.
I have been wondering this all morning, how is this going to fit into the the Titan Returns line? All TR figures so far have been Headmasters.
I am wondering if Trypticon will be apart of the Power of the Primes line
Looks great! I kind of hope it doesn't have the head master gimmick. A headless trypticon isn't very appealing to me.
Showed it to my 9 year old son and now he's soooo torn on whether to get this or MP Megs with his lai see money... oh the challenges of being a kid! ;)
I don't have the heart to tell him Trypticon will be joining our collection regardless. Always good to motivate the concept of saving for the things we like right? :)
Interesting he still has the forks for the walking gimmick on his feet. That said I doubt he will walk.
Probably the thing I like best is that he doesn't seem to have any similarities sprawling man city formers like Metroplex and FM. Good to know that they are willing to do a unique mold with no chance of a retool. Makes me keen for the other two Titans.
True, but he doesn't look like a Headmaster which the entire TR line is. His head doesn't look like it will transform into a robot like Cerebros. Hence why I think he will headline the POTP line
Generations - Metroplex
Combiner Wars - Devastator
Titan Returns - Fortress Maximus
Power of the Primes - Trypticon???
It seems like each line has had 1 titan release, so my theory could be correct
I reckon this Trypticon is pretty cool.... it looks nice enough and I'll buy it, but I was sort of hoping it would be more articulated so we'd be able to get some more dynamic dinosaur poses out of it. Ah well, can't be too fussy :o
I really need to stop buying Titans... just one more. I'll stop this time, no really.
At least this one looks unique. Shame the tail isn't a teeny bit longer but at least it is not stubby. Might have to reprolabel this one, but I said that about Metroplex too and haven't bothered so far.
Bah! I can't believe how much you are all wetting your knickers over this figure! He should be a slightly darker shade of grey, he has too much detail so looks too busy, his tail is too stubby, he... he...
... oh frag it! Who am I kidding?! I WANTS IT! I WANTS IT BAD!
Can't wait to line him up next to Gen Metroplex, TR Fort Max and GA Scorponok. Will finally have new versions of the big 4 in scale to each other to display :D
There's always a chance for a retool, even when it's not obvious.
The definition of a retool/remold is a lot more broad these days too - look at Sandstorm/Springer, Alpha Trion/Broadside, Rook/Swindle for examples of how far removed mold-mates can be.
I reckon this guy will be the base mold for Scorponok.
Looks good. I wonder what Takara will do with it.
And the. There will be the SDCC version, probably a NYCC version, a Chinese convention version. And so on. And so on. And so on.
Awesome render, but what will the actual toy look like? :p
Very promising though, I'm glad they opted for a slightly smaller size rather than going big for the sake of it like the previous Titans.
The tail seems a bit stubby, but it could be the angle. Still could well be the best of the Titan size toys so far.
If he can't walk, I'm going to keep my G1 Platinum release on display. The toy is perfect and I s ee no reason to replace him.
Looking at these photos, Trypticon is gonna be MASSIVE!
Spoiler Alert: His leg is taller than Sixshot

... Or Gigastorm.
Poor, poor Stumpticon! But let's be kind -- it was probably cold when they made that render...
The shorter tail may be indicative that this toy has superior balance to G1 Trypticon completely relies on the tail to remain upright when standing and walking. G1 Trypticon is very much a tail dragger, which is technically incorrect for a dinosaur (and remember that Trypticon's name in Japan is Dinosaurer ;)).
Good call! :D I can't think of any other redeco potential. Scorponok would be impossible because the design is completely different. Although a Titan Class Scorponok could be redecoed as Double Punch.
"Jurassic Park!"
Seemed like the perfect choice for conventions to homage. However I don't think it's a great idea as a general release. If they did started releasing these obscure reuses at retail then it could get real silly real quick - like TF Zone Nine Great Demon Generals Trypticon with exclusive Roman Armour and Shield?

The Nine Generals gear would actually be a neat thing for a third party company to pick up on. :)
Might be difficult to get off the ground, even for third party collectors :p For cartoons, seems like the further away from the original Sunbrow G1 series, the harder it is to find someone who's watched those cartoons and hence willing to whip out the cash for nostalgia.
Don't want to derail the topic, but Fansproject's Saurus (not-Dinoking) had the innerbots and dino shells sold separately because the size and cost of the shells was too much. Using them as an example as their size/price has always been consistently moderate. If your fingers are itchy.. click here. ;)
Well considering the biggest ever dinosaur was still smaller in mass than a blue whale, and Trypticon is maybe a mile or two tall, I reckon he could pick Godzilla up in one claw and bite his head off :D After all, in most movies Godzilla is not much bigger than a skyscraper and Trypticon is toting two of those on his shoulder blades no probs ;)
It looks awesome. Unfortunately it will inevitably cost $350+ when it's released over here and I have better things to spend that money on. But if someone buys one for me I won't be upset. :p
