Might be difficult to get off the ground, even for third party collectors For cartoons, seems like the further away from the original Sunbrow G1 series, the harder it is to find someone who's watched those cartoons and hence willing to whip out the cash for nostalgia.

Don't want to derail the topic, but Fansproject's Saurus (not-Dinoking) had the innerbots and dino shells sold separately because the size and cost of the shells was too much. Using them as an example as their size/price has always been consistently moderate. If your fingers are itchy.. click here.
