That's why they made a TV series. Transformers cartoons are always fundamentally a series of toy adverts. :)Quote:

Soon? That could been anytime this year knowing Hasbro.
Five small new Autobots sounds like deluxes, or a small line similar to Generations, at least to start with.
I'll believe it when I see it, I wonder though if there will be any chance of Hasbro establishing a uniform scale with the Prime line?
(Obviously these rumored figures don't fit that description ;))
The cartoon starts its regular screening soon (in America), so if there are just a handful of figures being released to cash in on the new cartoon, they may have been able to rush them through the design process, to get them out in the months before the movie... and then more after the movie 'season'.
Animated seem to have sold well enough despite coming out amidst Universe and Revenge of the Fallen. But ultimately a toy line will sell well if the toys are well made and fun to play with, even without a cartoon or movie to support it. A crappy toyline with a cartoon will still fail (e.g. Beast Machines).
You know that those would be the first toys released.
Aside from the faces, the bodies of those two characters are almost 1:1 with the movie models so there is no point in redesigning a whole new figure when there are already a dozen releases for each. All that it needs is a 'Frankenstainy' Animated type head on an existing ROTF figure and that's it to get a pretty accurate TF:Prime character representation.
With Arcee they could use the TF1 Arcee mold but with Bulkhead and Ratchet, they would need new molds if Hasbro wishes to go that far.
With the Decepticons, a Movie Megatron with a new head would do but new molds would be needed for Soundwave and Starscream.
