    it should still be ok for dark background for best results outdoor shots with natural light is better. this would bring out the charcter more

    I'm trying to replicate the invisible black backdrop, unfortunately it's not working .

    that's a really interesting article, you might want to try putting your backdrop further away so it takes longer for the light from it to return to your camera. It also looks like he uses a seconday light source in nearly all his shots. couild make a big difference.

    your last photo with the glowing eyes looks really good btw.
