Too tired to write a proper review, so this is just a some comments...

Overall I'm really disappointed with this toy. There are a few clever parts with the transformation in regards to how some panels fold up, but overall I prefer the original ROTF Deluxe over this. The weapon mount on the roof is clever -- rather than just having holes on the roof like G2, there are small panels which automatically spring up and "cover" the holes when the weapon isn't plugged in. That was a pleasant surprise.

But overall there's not enough redeeming features for me to recommend this toy... I'm gonna see if I can bring it back and exchange it for a toy of equal value. :/ And I heard the Twins aren't even appearing in the DOTM film anyway... bah.

Only recommended if you're a completist... otherwise just steer clear of this otherwise lacklustre toy.

Unless I can't get an exchange then I highly recommend it when you see me selling it!! (prolly for $23)

I heard that for (some reason) he doesn't have proper knees. Is this true?

I'm happy for Skids and Mudflap to be easier to transform for both kids and adults. ROTF was far too complex and fiddly.

I no longer have this toy in my possession, but I don't recall the toy not having knee articulation (I'm sure that would've stood out to me if it hadn't). Then again, I was so astounded by the amazing crapiness of this figure that I may not have noticed.

Knees or no, this figure is a truly underwhelming piece of fecal excrement. The ROTF toy defecates all over this DOTM figure. (-_-) Save your money and avoid this toy. Completists should wait until this toy inevitably shelfwarms and gets marked down on sale -- definitely don't pay full retail for this lemon.

The original Skids though clever enough wasn't a favourite ROTF toy for me, I was going to avoid this guy anyway, now for certain.

Still what makes him so bad? I'm curious have they dumbed down the new movie toys as pics of Popeye Prime, and Bumble Bee suggest?

The engineering of both DOTM Skids and Sideswipe aren't as clever as ROTF - and I suspect this was done to accomodate the Mech Tech weapon gimmick, which in itself is nothing more than a simple spring-loaded weapon. Both toys have Mech Tech ports which unlike say Mini-Con ports do have spring-loaded panels which 'cover' them up when there's no weapon inserted (that way there's no unsightly holes on the toy). A fairly novel concept, but of course, this means more parts and $.

I don't mind it on Sideswipe - but I only paid $19 for him... so I'd recommend him if you can get him cheap. But with Skids it just didn't work out that well.
