Default Toy Review - DotM Flash Freeze Assault pack

(Please post comments, photos or even a fully comprehensive review - these are just brief details to start you off)

Toy Review - HA Sideswipe w/ Icepick & Sergeant Chaos

Series - Dark of the Moon
    Sub-line - Mechtech Human Alliance
    Size/class - (deluxe plus basic)
New/remould/redeco - Redeco (only one human figurine between them)
    Wave - n/a
    Released here - July 2011
Approximate Retail Price - $25 (Kmart exclusive)
    Approximate Size - 25cm (Sideswipe), 10cm (Icepick)
    Allegiance - Autobot
Alt-mode - Corvette Stingray Concept (Sideswipe), Snow-mobile/weapon (Icepick)
Main Features/Gimmicks - Human figurine interaction, launching missile (Sideswipe)
Main Colours - Silver, black, green, blue (Sideswipe), black, orange, grey, green (Icepick)
Main Accessories - Missile, Sergeant Chaos, 2 guns

NOTE - Icepick and Chaos appear to be the same characters as their earlier release, but are labelled as Autobots here.
Most likely to promote the 'interaction' gimmick of the Basic HA figure in weapon mode.
(perhaps it could be a story that they defected to the Autobots like Wheelie did)

Back of packaging shows Sideswipe holding Icepick in weapon mode, but a sticker has been added to say that it can't actually do that.
Only "Mechtech" figures with post-holes in their fists can hold HA Basics.

To get a large sideswipe + icepick + human alliance figure for a mere $28 at K-Mart just seemed like a deal too good to pass on. But, upon opening this toy I realize how horrible the Sideswipe mold is in its robot form. The transformation from car to robot is just messy and feels out of proportion and the final product is just a shameful representation of the real character.

And plus why is it in the back photos on the box the human, Sergeant Chaos driving Sideswipe or even sitting on his back when he and Icepick have been described as enemies to Sideswipe in the packaging bios. And why does Icepick have 'Autobot alliance' tags on him?

They've also used the Major Tungsten mold for Seargent Chaos. Even the on box bio says they're enemies. Very confusing. But seeing as how the box is gone I'm placing Icepick and Chaos with the Autobots.
Nice colours on the toys that go well together. It says on box that Sideswipe can not hold Icepick in weapon mode but with some clever positioning of Sideswipes arms it is possible but not stable.
For $25 at kmart worth it for a Sideswipe fan, if only for the colours.

...or an icepick fan. Seriously, dem legs. :9

Considering this is only 5 dollars more than Icepick's regular release, I'm not sure why I didn't buy this. :/ Maybe it's Sideswipe's repulsive colour scheme. It's such a disappointing mould.

Certainly is an awful mould that HA Sideswipe. This doesn't get helped by the black and green highlighting all the disproportioned robot mode parts. The crummy bloated arms, shortened blades, ugly feet and humongous backpack kibble. Hard to believe the quality of the engineering from this compared to the outstanding ones of Bumblebee, Twins, Jazz and especially the awesome highlight of the line: Barricade.

For the price though, Sideswipe is a nice bonus to have next a nicely redeco'd Icepick and the little human figure.
