just got mine today and he is sweet as.

Animated Bulkhead has nothing on this TFP version. period. Bulkhead comes in a very nice display box so its perfect for misb collectors but also comes with a little cardboard base insert to display out of box as well.

bulkhead has a very bulky upper body which i guess is very obvious. he has some great arms and some decent but short legs.

the head sculpt is really nice and has a bit of shiny paint for the lower half of his face. surprisingly there is no hasbro grey on this toy!

the panels all tab in nicely and there is no kibble at all if you dont count the 2 rear wheels which i think are positioned nicely behind his back.

the shoulders have about 30 degrees movement back and forth but can rotate his arm 360 degrees. the elbow is about 90 degrees back and forth also with 360 degrees of rotation. bulkhead has no wrist articulation due to transformation but can has a 5mm peg hole for his wrecking ball.
his forearms also have a neat gimmick of spring loaded exhaust vents.

legs are simple and functional but also look very very good.

alt mode is a solid beastly hummer type car. it hides everything very well.

i give TFP Bulkhead 10/10. (7/10 if miko is nearby)

Optimus: Starscream, you have one chance to return what you stole from Arcee...
    Bulkhead: Or be WRECKED!!!
Starscream: Please Optimus! You don't know how hard it is to find nice boots like these! Have mercy!
    Arcee: *shreiks* GIVE THEM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only Bulkhead toy I have is the one that comes with the Animated Activity Set (little PVC figure), however after seeing this and side-by-side comparisons with his Animated self, I might consider making some room on my shelves for him. Transformation looks uncomplicated yet fun.

For some reason, after reading that first quote, I though it may proceed like this...

Of the first edition figures I have this would be more least favourite. I really like Animated Bulkhead and this figure doesn't live up to his namesake. I found it a little frustrating to transform because of the way the legs and arms squeeze into place. He does become a nice looking vehicle though, but a bit more of bumper wouldn't have hurt.

Yeah, I'm preferring this toy over the Animated one for sure.

Only that the toy is substantially mistransformed.

Comparison pics between Takara and Hasbro versions posted here. Overall the Hasbro colours are more showlike (although the different coloured jaw looks a bit funny) but the darker metallic colours on the Takara version is also very nice in its own right. So both figures look good in their own right so it's really a matter of personal preference. I personally prefer the Takara version myself.

Same here. I don't like his weapon much but I think his vehicle form and robot form are both superior to the Animated version. The vehicle version in particular is quite nice, though again the weapon looks stupid on top. I like how his door fit on the front of the chest to, makes ol' Bulky look... well.... bulky

Digging this out from the past in posting a new video review. I never had the Animated Voyager but IMO and based on my collection (~400) this has got to be one of the best figures for the past 15 years (I have near zero Beast Wars experience). I personally don't find the transform frustrating - rather I find it engaging and complex yet quite manageable (even after shelving the guy for years). Enjoy!

Recent acquisitions: SS Leader Blackout & Deluxe Starscream, & FP Pinchar (Snarl)!
Upcoming: SS Voyager OP, Megs, Brawl & Ironhide!
Wishlist: Voyager Astrotrain & Octane (Thank you Hasbro!), Modern Dinobots (Thank you FP!)
