It's a Family Mart (Japanese convenience store chain) lottery exclusive from 2010. I haven't seen any around in any of the hobby shops here so I imagine getting one would set you back quite a bit...if you could find one for sale that is.
I didn't think it was that rare, but nothing is showing up on ebay at the moment, so I guess it is.
I bought mine off ebay from a NZ seller (if I recall), September last year. It cost me $200 - not sure why I spent so much on it... I bought three JP
exclusives, so maybe the combined shipping discount helped convince me. Or because that sized toy was about $100 here, so figured that a rare
version was worth a doubling of the price (most BotCon/Club toys are more than double).
Besides, I'm a sucker for the occasional translucent figure, for display (not play).

Hows the plastic quality Griffin? Do any areas seem more brittle than on the regular release?
I think there are are 4000 in existence, Griffin - so it's not the rarest toy in your collection, but it's still pretty special.I found three on eBay - nothing less than $400 shipped for one of these:

Heh... I did a search for "Family" and "Clear Convoy"... I shoulda looked for "Optimus" (I forgot that they were using the western name by then).
I certainly wasn't aware that the produced quantity (4000) was known though, so thanks for that bit of info.
$400 is certainly more than I'd pay for it. It was a year ago I bought mine and I think it was only new-ish at that time, so $200 was probably about right at the time (its value).
Plastic quality - I don't think I ever transformed it... or at least, I may have been too afraid to transform it in case the more brittle clear plastic breaks on a load-bearing joint. The plastic makes it look like the Ghost Starscream (which I never transformed either, for the same reason)... Just disappointed that the swords are translucent. It's almost like they reversed it because other Primes had translucent swords, but I think it spoils it a bit by having solid swords on a (mostly) translucent toy (even the tyres are translucent grey). Especially one of this size.
(imagine how long it would take to transform all those Leader-class Primes to truck mode for a group photo...)
