    Default Favourite Subgroup/gimmick/concept?

I came across this topic today, which was 3 years old, and was wondering what the current opinions are on favourite subgroups or gimmicks over the... since we've had several new series and concepts in that time, and a lot of new members too.

So which is your favourite throughout the history of Transformers?
It doesn't have to be specific to a series either, if it is a subgroup or concept that has been reused or re-imagined over the years.

If it is really tough to pick one, you can say 2 or 3 if you want... just give us a reason why each is your favourite.

    Dinobots and Constructicons!

I just wish that Hasbro finally comes up with a PROPER Dinobot combiner - the PCC is just half bake. Constrcticons wise well - I know it's now an official Hastak toy but my Giant toy IS a modern day concept of those guys and if Hastak can top that or "Hercules", the possibilities for the constructicons/Devastator is just plain awesome and then have a combiner DINOBOTs to match - double awesome! Say call it Titanotron!

I like the Dinobots how they are. Just would not be right if they combine.

Yes I agree... Energon was sucky enough with the sucky grimlock and sucky swoop COmbining into and even suckier uglier combination....

to me the Dinos are just your elite hard ass troops and thats the way they should stay.

Omnibots Surprisingly, I don't have any

My fav would have to be the Predacons. Never had them as a kid (they were far too expensive) but have since acquired the reissue. I remember reading issue #25 of the original Marvel comic series over and over. Predaking IS the ultimate warrior!

My favourite gimmicks would be combiners, since the combining sequences always looked awesome, and as toys, it's interesting to look at the engineering and thought that went into it to make it possible.

Favourite subgroup would be Team Bullet Train from Robots in Disguise. Their train alternate modes were different and plus, they combined into one of the best combiners ever... I was enthralled when they first appeared in RiD, and while watching the episode, I was thinking "if only they could combine...", so I was so excited when they did by the end of the episode. Their toy form were great too and one of my favourite combiner toys.

I've been putting together some Arms Micron guys over the last few days and man, I do love little dudes that turn into weapons. Especially when you can then combine them into bigger and more ridiculous weapons.

Hmm, gimmick wise I love Masters, Headmasters in particular because its a bit like Diaclone, with drivers for the vehicle, but Power and Target are cool as well.

I have a soft spot for Pretenders and would love to see an update on the concept. Not sure why though...

Favourite subgroup are the Dinobots. Why? Because they are dinosaurs that are ROBOTS.

    Coolest concept

Actually the concept was inspired by 鋼鉄ジーグ (Steel Zeeg); another toy line made by Takara. Although unlike Diaclone it was based on a pre-existing manga/anime franchise and not a toy franchise like Diaclone was.

I'd like to see the concept of a human Transformer. It's something I've thought about since 1986/7 -- I remember in 1987 drawing a fan made Transformer who could turn into a human. I thought the concept of Alice from ROTF was cool, but poorly executed (making it impossible for HasTak to ever design a remotely screen accurate looking toy). It's funny... in the special features section of the TF1 DVD, Aaron Archer says that one important thing about Transformers is alt mode kibble -- and he insisted that the movie robots all definitely show this because it's an important aesthetic aspect of a Transfomers' body shape. Yet Alice has NO alt mode kibble in her robot mode (except her tongue; *sigh*) It'd be a much cooler design if the robot mode was running around with human alt mode kibble lying displaced, much like beast mode kibble on the robot mode of Beast Wars Transformers. I think it'd be more interesting to see something that looks a little more like this (albeit w/ more sophistication) rather than what we saw with Alice, where she just completely flipped inside out and was devoid of any alt mode kibble.
