Do you find it is cheaper to sometimes post items separately rather than as one big box???

I've never had to post out anything in bulk, but as a buyer I do have a good example. I was going to order three items together from TFsource in the US, but I only bought two of the items with the third one yet to be ordered separately, simply because the postage worked out to be way cheaper, due to the fact that all three items sent together exceeded the size/weight limits for USPS First Class Mail and so would have had to be shipped with Priority Mail.

So yeah, ordering them separately saved me money. Even though Priority Mail is faster and includes tracking, I was fine with First Class. The items arrived safe and sound. But that's USPS, I'm not sure about Australia Post.

I rarely send/receive stuff by post but when I do I prefer to have it sent by bulk because Japan Post is cheaper in bulk. But having said that, there's a certain limit to the bulk when the savings becomes negligible -- so yeah, I have it sent by bulk up to a certain point.

It really depends on how many items there are, how big they are, how heavy they are and where they're being posted from and too.

Local aussie postage is box size and weight related, US international has various options and when buying from BBTS Bulk using UPS is way cheaper as long as you don't spend over a grand.
