Default Even chaos needs a rest now and then

Under the title: Even chaos needs to put its feet up now and then, I headed down to Bunnings this morning and came back with a length of Tassie Oak and some motivation. The latter being the key to success here.

So a few hours in the garage with a circular saw, a sanding pad and a lot of patience, has yielded this. It's not finished yet, I still need to round off all the edges and then give it a few coats of clear coat to make it shine. But I'm fairly happy considering my experience involves mainly working with steel, not wood.

    More pics when its finished.

Nice work, very elegant simple design.

have you considered black though as a more "space" colour to "blend" and not stand out as much againt unicron?

not that stained wood wouldn't look great, I love that stuff, just not convinced it'll go with Unicron, though it may blend in better with the space around where black coiuld stick out like a sore thumb if you don't have any dark furniture.

Really good work, looking forward to the finished product.

I was thinking of black as well but my wife suggested clear coat as Tassie Oak is a really nice looking timber, as well as the fact that it's going to be sitting in one of these:

    I'll see how I go.

Wow, it looks simple (but deceptively so). You are showing some great skills dude, it looks classy.
