TF4 will be in IMAX again... looks like Bay loves his big bangs to be as big as possible.

Plus some guy called Stanley Tucci is said to be joining the cast.

Michael Bay's 'Transformers 4' sets up shop in Metro Detroit; Pontiac's Michigan Motion Picture Studios eager for workload (MLive, 17/04/2013):

Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac is preparing up for another Hollywood closeup.

The production venue that was home to the hit Sam Raimi-directed film "Oz the Great and Powerful" will also host crews for Michael Bay's "Transformers 4" this summer.

Set building for "Transformers 4" - expected to get an official title soon - has already begun at the 535,000-square foot facility and has Michigan Motion Pictures Studios chief operating officer Tony Wenson excited.

"They are in the process of pre-production right now," Wenson told MLive Detroit, when asked if Bay's film crew is in town. "They are filming in several other states, too. The majority of their shooting, I believe, will be done in the state of Michigan.

"In addition to working on our stages, they’ll also be working throughout the state at different locations. We’re really excited that they’re here. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to service another film.”

Wenson declined to say specifically when filming for "Transformers 4" will begin, but disclosed it will happen "early" this summer.

That appears the earliest time when Bay and film cast members are expected to be in Metro Detroit for work.

Set building for "Transformers 4" comes at a time of good PR for the Michigan Motion Picture Studios because Raimi, a Royal Oak native, recently praised the facility as being one of the most state-of-the-art the film industry has ever seen.

Mark Wahlberg on wearing Calvins again, being in the next Transformers and producing ‘Entourage’ the movie (InquirerEntertainment, 18/04/2013):

    ...

He also sounded excited to be in the untitled “Transformers” sequel to be released in the United States summer next year with a new cast and with Michael back as director. “Shooting starts next month in Austin, Texas, Chicago, Detroit, maybe Utah, Arizona and possibly in China,” Mark said. “If I say anything else, I’m in trouble.”

I thought this was an interesting article, in which Bay once again confesses to not following scripts when he gets visual inspirations while on the sets... mentioning that Speilberg even tried to tell him to stick to the script, but stubbornly rejected the request, claiming that even if 80% is screwed up by improvising the script during filming, at least there is 20% that is "gold".

(yeah, that's a good performance requirement there... aim for a good 20% of "gold" instead of, you know, 100%)

So pretty much we get 80% of non related transformers story, just so this guy can go off on his tangent of how this movie is going to look cool. With a movie that probably is going to go for 3HRS and have about 45Mins of a story line. I'm in the wrong business.

Michael Bay has come out saying that the fourth movie will be shorter than the previous ones, claiming that it will be 2 hours and 7 minutes.

Filming hasn't even started yet, so there's no way he'd know how long it will end up being (to the minute) after editing... especially with his improvised filming style that adds things as he goes along.

He's also mentioned his partnership with General Motors will continue into the fourth movie, so we are likely to see more fancy sports cars again.

Can't get enough of Michel Bay? Well Miami Florida mustn't, as they are proposing a Michael Bay day on June 5th.
And it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the upcoming opening of the Transformers Ride at Universal Studios in Florida, as the themepark is near Orlando, a long way away from Miami.

I really wish Bay kept his promise of not making any more Transformers films after DotM so they could give someone else a turn. He clearly doesn't give a flying Rattrap's tail about making a decent story.

On the plus side, i don't have to sit through a 3 hour rehash of an episode i saw in 1985. Only 2, which hopefully means more focus on the bots. Less humans, more bots please
