More discussion from Michael Bay about TF4 from Moviefone, with some highlights mirrored here. He talks about becoming a fan of Transformers (or at least, his version of the Brand), redesigning the robots for the fourth movie, and him wanting to protect (his version of) the Brand from anyone else "f***ing it up".
He's quite excited about having a big star in the lead (human) role, which could be bad news for us *Transformers* fans, as that will mean more screen time for him to make the most of his hefty fee.
It's also been noted by Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson, that he was originally offered the lead role, but had to turn it down due to other commitments... so Mark Wahlberg was second choice.
I guess if he had been able to do the Transformers movie, it would have pretty much ruled out a cross-over with GIJoe, after he played a leading character in the second GIJoe movie (a crossover movie would have had to avoid using both of their characters... that is, if Bay worried about plot inconsistencies between his movies.)
A casting call has been put out for 35 supporting roles and extras (in America), paying about $800 for those parts.
One of the actors, Jack Reynor, who has one of the main roles in TF4, has given up some vague comments... in that he doesn't know much of what the movie is about, but is excited about getting the role.
And, another location being scouted for filming of the fourth movie is in Hong Kong.
