Actually if the person is into the FOC game, then I'd also recommend the Shockwave, prime or Jazz, they are fairly simple but they are good representations of the characters.

Oh I was just thinking, if the recipient is into lego type stuff, maybe a Kre-O Transformer? You can still find them on clearance at Toyworld (and maybe other places as well I'm not sure), and would keep the person busy for a while.
