I preordered mine a while back, so I'm suckered in.
Yes, because in the Japanese version of the G1 cartoon the blue and purple robot was called Frenzy and the red and black robot was called Rumble. So they basically corrected the FIRRIB colouring mistake from the US cartoon, and as such the whole "FIRRIB/FIBRIR" debacle just doesn't exist in Japan! (cool, huh?) The real "annoyingly unresolvable fan debate" among Japanese fans is: Serikawa Akira: boy or girl?!(officially he's meant to be a boy, but the cartoon model is androgynous and the manga drawing is very effeminate; Akira can be a boy or girl's name, depending on the Kanji, but this Akira's name's always been written in Katakana in official canon!!)
Of course, the weirdness about the Japanese correction of FIRRIB means that Frenzy goes around with Rumble's power to make earthquakes... but then again, we never see Frenzy use his audio powers in the cartoon (Soundwave uses it once in "The Ultimate Doom"), and in Transformers The Movie both Frenzy and Rumble have piledriver arms! So I guess it's a rather moot point since in the cartoon Frenzy seems to have been treated as being a 'twin' of Rumble with the same ability... which is a shame, because his "Wail Like A Banshee" power is pret-ty damn cool
Micross and Macross.(that's about the long and short of it <rimshot>)
