I'd go for the Tantive IV, though I still prefer the speeder bike just as there is a more 'active' connection.
On the face, the escape pod/R2-D2 is obvious, and it did cross my mind, but the fact that it is something of a 'passive' (in the sense that it is not particularly piloted or controlled by Artoo and few or no others) vehicle led me to discount it. However, there aren't really any others, so I can happily pay that one.
Never thought of the Star Skiff for Threepio, though I probably didn't consider it since it comes from *that* trilogy, not the real one.
