It's weird that I don't recall much past season one. Watched the early bird show religiously until it became club ten in 88?

Would have had to have seen some of season three then.

Does anyone recall seeing the 86 movie on release?

I remember seeing the trailer on TV during the cartoon ad breaks. My parents never took me to see it The first time I saw it was on TV (it was shown every year around Xmas for about 5 years).

TF:TM originally came out when I was 11 and I got the feeling my parents thought I should have outgrown Transformers by then. Fast forward 27 years - oh how wrong they were

Oh yeah! My dad took my brother, my cousin and I to watch it in Hoyts cinema, George St. Sydney. I've since watched the 2007 Transformers Movie and Dark of the Moon in the same cinema (now Event Cinema). When I went back to school, my other friends who'd seen it and I kept on trying to sing all the new songs (with badly remembered lyrics and tunes of course ) -- and we all giggled at Spike saying the "S" word. Ummm-mmmmaaaa! I was a bit scared my dad would drag us out of the cinema at that stage, but luckily not.

The funny thing is... I watched Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 on TV, then I watched Transformers The Movie in the cinema, then after that continued watching the second half of Season 2. This confused me heaps as a kid because it felt like the continuity was jumping back and forth. I was like... huh? It's Optimus Prime and Megatron... didn't they just die/get rebuilt last week?

I'm not even sure the small country town in Victoria where I grew up had a Cinema when it came out.

Either way I saw it for the first time sometime before 1992 on TV or VHS and I thought it was the best thing ever. and Prime dying did upset me.

I remember watching Transformers on Saturday mornings but I couldn't tell you which show it was a part of. My sisters and I would be up from about 5 am watching cartoons

I thought it was Boxing Day? Must be getting old. My memory is playing up

Growing up in a small town I remember we only had 2 tv channels. ABC and Channel 9 affiliate Win TV. We had a Saturday morning cartoon show called Space Ace that we used to watch it on. I remember seeing most of the first 2 seasons. I remember later (either late primary school or early high school) once we got the 3 other channels (7, 10, SBS) channel 10 used to play it in the afternoon around 3:30-4:00.

I was the first kid in my class to see the movie Mum took me one Saturday afternoon. I remember seeing the poster and thinking it was strange as I didn't recognise any of the characters. I soon learnt why none of my favourite characters were on the poster. I had a choc top ice cream and when (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!) Optimus Prime died I was so upset I actually lost my appetite and Mum had to eat it It soon worked out ok as I liked most of the new characters especially Wheelie... Said no one ever!!!!

You might be right. Sometime around the Xmas/NY time anyway.

Ha! Ha! I know what you mean there man Good old VHS tapes with ads and flickering video and muffled audio but like you they were gold bullion to me and I have only just departed with them as the DVD box sets will serve me just fine now

I recall watching upto season 3 on our channel 10/7 mix called NRTV and had a lot of those aired eps (not all) on the tapes mentioned above. I recall when the internet became popular people where selling all 4 seasons and the movie on some crazy amount of tapes for something like $200US. I had seriously contemplated buying them Thank god the box sets came out a few years later
The animated movie never came to our 1 screen cinema small country town, but I was fortunate enough to see it at a friends birthday party when it was released on VHS I remember going home thinking it was the best cartoon I'd seen

I was trying to recall when exactly the cartoons aired here a while back. I remember seeing More than “Meets the Eye Part 1” one Saturday morning and the following 2 parts over the following weeks. I seem to recall wanting to get back to school and talk to people about it; so I assume it was over some school holiday period. Most of the other episodes were taped as my sister and I played sport Saturday mornings (another reason I suspect I saw MTMTE on a holiday as there was no sport) so dad taped us one cartoon each on Saturday morning to watch later (easy choice for me but often had to sit through Muppet Babbies or the Chipmunks first!).

A friend’s mom took us to the old Toombul Shoppingtown cinema one day – again a school holiday I think. We didn’t know what we were going to see (and didn’t care really because it was a rare thing for us to do anyway). We were all a bit confused when it started – the opening song was different but familiar. Then we were just excited… until the moment Prime died.

I remember seeing the cartoons and the movie all in sequence; I was confused as to why Megatron in the movie only used Devastator and not the other combiners too. I also watched the cartoons after only because of the final narration. I didn’t like the cartoon as much after the movie mainly because it was set in the future (well it was then!!). I only wanted to see Optimus return. You can imagine how ticked off I was by “Dark Awakening”!

Don’t recall seeing anything after “The Return of Optimus Prime”.
