It really is cool to think that I was able to pass these 25-30 year old toys to him. Only problem is that he is always asking for me to give him a few more of them from the cabinet each time he checks them out!
Reminds me of my own son. He is only 2 but loves going up to my cabinet and pointing at them and saying "Who's that one?" then repeating the name once I tell him. Due to his age he can't really transform them yet (apart from G1 Seaspray which I gave him) so at this stage I don't have much to worry about.

Back onto topic, geez I must be getting up to at least 75% complete by now. Mostly only missing Pretenders and Action Masters (do they even count? ). Not really fussed on collecting either of those lines so might just end it once I finalise 1984-1988 and micromasters.

Pretenders and Action Masters most certainly do count, and will feature in Parts 3 and 4 of the Swipers. Stay tuned!

I meant Action Masters only because they don't actually transform!

Yeah but they are still part of the main G1 line so they do count. The transforming feature/gimmick for those toys were the accessories and vehicles.

The hardest part of your flip card game is remembering which toys I have as actual G1 and what is MP and what is Generations.
I have a list of all G1 characters that have been released in CHUG form. You can find it here. Please feel free to let me know if I got anything wrong so I can fix it.

You may also have a look at the Classicsverse and G1 Comparison thread to compare G1 and Generations toys. But generally the aesthetics between G1, CHUGUR and MP look drastically different from each other, they're pretty easy to tell apart straight away.

Here's one example, comparing 3 different versions of Wheeljack.

I'm only missing 3 from the new list, although do reissues count? If not I'm missing a hell of a lot more

It's not that easy, most of my childhood transformers are still at my parents house in Victoria. pretty much all of the G1 toys I have purchased in the last 15 years are currently in plastic tubs with about 80 to 90 % of the rest of my collection. I don't have the space to get them all out and see which ones I do and don't have. Unfortunately many of them I haven't spent a lot of time with, they've gone into storage soon after acquisition to make way for display of newer current toys. perhaps it's time I put a G1 shelf back in my display.
