Default Takara Transformers Legends - New line of 30th year figures

    From TFW2005 -

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Takara-Tomy have updated their website with the announcement of a new line of Transformers toys. The line is named "Transformers Legends" but should not be confused with the Legends size class or the mobile game from Mobage. This line, Transformers Legends, is billed as "various characters who have appeared in the 30 year history of the Transformers, getting new releases with a modern interpretation and modern technology" (our paraphrasing of online translations)

The first two releases in the line have been revealed as Rattrap and Optimus Primal, from Beast Wars - and you might notice that for this line Takara-Tomy has reverted to the original Japanese names, so these two are being called Rattle and Convoy, respectively. Rattrap / Rattle is the new Generations Deluxe class toy, while Convoy is the original Beast Wars Ultra class toy, using the remolding from the 10th anniversary Golden Disk reissue set.

    YES!

Now I'll (hopefully) be able to get Skids etc. at non-Hero-Gangu markup prices.
I really thought TT would just let them go and focus on the Movie stuff.

Hmmm, could be some nice figures come from this line. Certainly not the first 2 though.

I got so excited when my blurry morning eyes first saw the headline and associated pic! A new Primal figure!

But then I was a little disappointed. Another repaint of the '96 mold.

I might pick up the Rattrap, but at this stage it doesn't look overly different to the US one. I was hoping for some chrome. And yes he had red 'rat' eyes when in robot mode, but it makes him look a little demonic in beast mode.

As for Primal, the paint apps look no different to the 10th Anniversary Takara/TRU version, so he's a pass.

Awesome that at least one of them is interested in properly celebrating the 30th anniversary of Transformers.

I already have that Primal as it looks the same as the 10th anniversary retool. It is an awesome toy and I don't see how much more it can be improved as it already has so I understand a reissue.

I really do hope they get on with Skids! Another 'new mold' BW character would also be very welcome.

Sweet, I just hope now that they don't go crazy with toon accurate colours like they have in the past

Fingers crossed for Skids as well

Missed out on that Optimus Primal mold many times in the past so this is good news for me.

I can't be completely sure from looking at two toys but this is what Thrilling 30 should have been; a tribute to iconic/milestone characters in Transformers history.
Any figure that comes with swords demands wrist articulation.

At first I thought it seemed a bit late for them to come to the party with a 30th Anniversary line... but for Japan, 2015 is their 30th anniversary for Transformers. (even though they seem to stick the 25th & 30th anniversary logo on their toys in Hasbro anniversary years).

And now another "Legends" name to get even more confused over.

Can we really expect to see new molds in this line? Surely it'll just be recent Generations figures with different paint apps and the occasional older figure...?
