I need help trying to fix this one piece that just won't go back into the side of his leg no matter how hard I try, I tried looking on forums and stuff for ways to fix it, but none have shown a solution. Can anyone help?

I think you're out of luck. You can glue it back together but the join will never be as strong as it was before.
I'm not familiar with the earlier Masterpiece Optimus mold but the gas tanks look like they double as spring loaded switches locking his legs in their extended/retracted positions. I suggest you glue it back on, without the spring, in the open position. He will still transform but runs the risk of his leg collapsing whenever he is posed standing up.
Any figure that comes with swords demands wrist articulation.

You may need to resort to looking for a cheap junker on ebay (maybe $20-50 if it is already broken somewhere else on the toy) and swap over parts.
