Gun-Formers (imitation weapons) laws and requirements for Australia

So I went and visited the local police station about permits and the guy in charge of fire-arms said all I need to do is ask customs if it's allowed in the country,
if they say yes I just fill out a form send it off and the fire arms department give me a letter of approval for importation. No license or permit required
Almost sounds too easy.

Yeah doesn't sound exactly right, I'd either call or email the Tassie police dept firearms branch and get another opinion on the matter as there seems to be conflicting information depending on who you ask or where you look.

Get it in writing. Go back and politely ask the officer if he could make a quick written statement about what he's advised you.

I am still interested to know if anyone else encountered issues with their gun-formers.

I have heard from a very reliable source that there have been some people in this country who have had their Gunformers seized and incinerated.
