    Default Home Security - CCTV

Hi Guys, we are looking at getting some CCTV at our house as I am tired of people stealing my shoes, taps and other things from our front and back yard.

Any recommendations on DIY or getting a professional in to do the job?

I recently bought a camera from http://www.lightinthebox.com as we were getting our bar fridge raided. Work out what features you want and see what they have got.

Trip wires and tazers, so strong they'll never be able to reproduce and inflict the world with their offspring.

Get a home security assessment done. I believe companies like Lockwood offer this service. Even if you don't end up buying any of their products, you should get some great free advice from them.

We've got CCTV at our house which is linked to our internet/phone line so if the camera is tripped, it sends a warning via txt to our mobiles and then, using an app, we can access the cameras from our smart phones. All up, cost about $2500 for 8 cameras, the DVR unit and installation.
If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you

Cool, that's what were thinking but with 4 cameras - get it done right first time. Do you get overloaded with texts when birds/cars set off the cameras?

Good idea, CCTV is supposed to deter the lowlifes, but could it possibly work in reverse, that they see the camera and think there must be some good stuff in there?
