The TakaraTomy Mall site ran through translate has a line "This product is scheduled to be sold in Asia", so i wouldn't worry too much.
I'd imagine their line of thinking is that only a small subset of the most dedicated fans will want to pick up all 6, and in Japan the popularity of Transformers isn't all that great either.

If not exclusive (can't imagine why it would be though), I'm a bit meh. He looks kind of fugly, different to the stubby cartoon model.

Although he looks good, I think the Toymecha ones look better. Better face sculpts for certain.
The fact he is exclusive doesn't help.
