I'm a west sider born and raised. I must say the "knifepoint" jab is getting awfully stale now.

Whilst things are certainly not perfect, the socio-economic profile of the Melbourne western suburbs has really stepped up a notch in the last few years. Look at Footscray and Sunshine.

Consistently labeling our beloved shopping heartland with a term like "knifepoint" isn't doing anyone any favours. If you think you're going to get assaulted or stabbed there then I feel sorry for you, because it's ridiculous.

Im sorry, I didn't know I was involved in a discussion on socioeconomics or demographics, I thought I was on a transformers forum. The fact you took what a random person said on the internet seriously is ridiculous.

You have no idea who I am, for all you know I may know someone who actually was stabbed there. I could have been stabbed there - would that make it ok to call it kifepoint then? For the record, I call it that occasionally purely for humor value. I've lived in Altona my whole life. I visit hp weekly. I don't fear for my life when I go there. I've worked there in the past. I've used alternate names for many suburbs for the humour value. Hell, most of what I say is said for the humour value - Many people on here (and most of whom I've met in person) would say the same of me. If you don't find it funny, so be it. You want to give me your opinion? Send me a PM, don't derail a thread by getting on your high horse.

EDIT: Just to mess with you some more because your post deserves it:

I should add something relevant to the thread to bring it back on topic:

My local dubs at Central Square had no stock out, but staff said they were expecting a delivery in the "next few days."
    I'll keep an eye out

That's a cracking price, almost worth buying a second one to actually display in alternate mode or save for a rainy day in 200 years time when I have time to do all the customs I want to do.

    Devastator $198 - 10% off friends and family coupon = $178.20

    Purchase a big w giftcard $178.20 (10% off) = $160.38 for devi !!!!!
Also a good price, especially if you're nowhere near a toymate.

Big W Rockhampton had no visible stock today, but that's no surprise - Rocky is the poster child for a failing Big W store as far as stock and customer service both are concerned. I didn't bother to ask as I actually managed to get one from there during the toy sale.

With the debacle last year involving their failure to put out the movie toys, their pathetically low stock levels this year which both other major DDS players put to shame, and the complete mess they've made of advertising and selling Devastator (which should be one of this year's biggest sellers outside of Star Wars) we as Transformers fans might say it comes as no surprise that Big W's profits are tanking. Especially when you factor their generally appalling customer service in. (Apologies to those members who actually do work there)

Mate, you keep saying no offence, but then restate your claim.

Sure, there will be the 1% of employees that actively work to help a scalper. We've all heard stories about Toys R Us employees holding all the stock of limited release items and putting it up on ebay at a markup.

I can say from my own experience at Target, that big box retailers like Target, Big W, and Kmart have a highly casualised workforce. For a big event like the Toy Sales, most of the staff in that department are on many longer shifts in the week or two in the lead-up and so are aware of what's coming in. However we won't ever have an exact number. We can only say if we saw an item on the carts / shelves. And so, when trying to be helpful, that limited knowledge will cause u to come unstuck - particularly if under pressure on the first day of a sale/ the day before - we might never have seen it arrive, and so will say we don't think it's come in yet (it's not out of the question) but when in reality it came in a week ago and was sold out prior to the sale.

Yes, systems could be better, but please don't take that out on the floor staff who are working with what they've got. And don't accuse the 90% of people who work their butt off for you and aim to do right by you as the customer because of the 9% lazy ones, and 1% dodgy ones.

Must be the silly season cos it's putting people's elbows out of joint.

Question: Are the restock triple / double taped boxes, just like the initial limited stock early in the year? Thanks.

    This ^
It is ignorant to paint retail staff with one brush, as Seraphim has stated yes there are a couple of dodgy ones but most in my experiences are quite helpful to the best of their skillset.
I know of one Big W employee who is a true gentleman (KP) and some people from the other major chains who are not too bad either (ST) and i take offence on their behalf at the comments in this thread about retail employees

On a positive note, my local Big W has redeemed themselves through excellent customer service rendered by their store manager Mark.
This bloke searched high and low to find me Devy today... Going through stock and all AND immediately contacting me via store intercom as well as a phone call PLUS placing item on reserve for me at the layby counter.
Now that's excellent customer service for you!
I'm writing in to give him great feedback because he deserves it.
The rest of the staff need to learn from him.
Now under the Christmas tree Devy goes

I never said all retail workers are the same, I said those rotten ones spoil the experience of shopping at that particular store.
Just the same as an excellent worker can make a store your favorite.
Don't see how me saying dodgy types ruining the experience is saying "hey, you're all like that", especially when I said you aren't, but whatever, I apologized for any implied offense towards helpful staff so I'm clear
