That was my first thought.
Not really a surprise that Blaster was redone as Soundwave but it is odd to have Hasbro reveal it before any leaks or rumours.

I really like the look of this. I never really felt like the data disc version fitted into my classics collection - I have the music label version as a stand in, but he's small by comparison. I think this version will fit in perfectly. Can't wait!

I can accept owning both versions, as the data-disc ones are their Cybertronian modes, and these are their Earthen modes.

There's a fair amount of retooling done to this toy; the head, chest/door, groin/buttons, lower legs, speakers etc. This would've absorbed a fair chunk of the strictly allocated retool budget, so it's possible that they couldn't afford to give him a new gun. Although a lot of Generations figures use 5mm weapon posts, so if this Soundwave does the same, then you can give him your G1 Soundwave's gun.

looks really good. wonder about the price point.

Leader Class, so around $100 here at full RRP. I'm still not entirely sure that I want to get one... maybe if it's on sale. Because Music Label Soundwave still works really well as a repurposed Classicsverse Soundwave, plus I do intend to get Blaster, so I will already own a version of this core mould.

Easy pass for me. I dislike it enough that it is souring me on Blaster. It's so "cartoony" and not in a "just like the G1 cartoon" way.

This is most certainly one of the most highly anticipated CHUG toys ever. Although he is a retool of Blaster, I'm not too heavily concerned because we can do more than just titan wars with these 2.

He looks really good and GEEWUN. I wish they'd done a red visor but the yellow actually looks pretty nice.

I dunno, for those of us who have MP Soundwave I don't quite see the point of this. he looks really Geewun but not as much as MP Soundwave. Obviously he'd also work on a CHUG shelf if you're collecting the new line up of CHUG Leaders. But like Goktimus I'd probably want to stick with Device Label Soundwave as he looks less oversized with most of my cons.
