    Default BT Convoy story translated.

Part 4 of the new storyline in the BT series has been posted to the allspark board.

    http://www.allspark.com/forums/index...howtopic=51739

Includes a cameo of sorts of Optimus Primal, after his death in Beast Machines. These BT stories are fan-written, but being on official product packaging, it effectively makes it canon that BT is in the universe of BW/BM.
And being fan-written, it doesn't mean that any other character mentioned (like Primal) is going to be released in the BT toyline.

Well if they are sucking brains out it can't be Melbourne or Adelaide!

And it'd backfire on them real bad if it was setup in Darwin!

Wow. That reads like a bad fanfic. Which technically it is.

Not really. Bad fanfics tend to try to fit in with existing official continuity, but totally stuff it up. They also typically feature other corny/cliché story elements like Mary Sues. The main protagonist is often a Munchkin and the story is often resolved with a blatant deus ex machina. Go the Transformers Lexicon sometime and read through that stuff... *shudder*

Did you really need that many hyperlinks to make your point?

Not that I agree with you either. There's a lot of stuff in print that is very cringeworthy. Hell, a lot of Collector's club comics that are just plain cringeworthy. Even some of Furman's stuff in recent memory is. "Mary Sues" and "Munchkins" have always been prevalent across many genres of fiction. It's just about the quality of execution that allows writers to get away with it and the adulation of deeply devoted fans that allows writers to get away with it. Many mainstream comics have precisely that problem. Writers inevitably have favourites. Just b/c something is published/officially released does not qualify it as beyond fanfic. To use those labels you have is unfair. Certainly they may be more prevalent in fan fiction but other forms of fiction are not exactly free of those defects.

I don't think what's written here is great. It's horrendous actually. And it equates to very very bad fanfic. So does the fact that it was published and packaged by TakaraTomy change the fact that it really is fan fiction? Not really in my mind b/c it reeks and the first comparison you make is to crappy fan fiction.

But perhaps we're being too harsh, this is a translation after all and a lot can be lost in translation sometimes.

*Too scared to go read these BT stories*...

I would give TakaraTomy credit for at least letting fans have this level of interaction though. (Yeah I know bad fanfic is still bad fanfic afterall.)

And it's not as if we haven't had horrific stories from official writers. And yeah, at least they're attempting to give Binaltech a story unlike say the story of Alternators (or lack of).

There's also the fact that the BT stories are free - i.e.: they're freebies that come with the toy, much like say the comic books that came included with the old Masters of the Universe toys or the comic book that came with bat Primal vs croc Megatron in Beast Wars. It's not like say a cartoon episode or comic issue where a far more substantial amount of time and money was invested into it... nothin' worse than paying for a comic book or DVD where the story sucks.
