Hasbro's John Warden has done a 2 minute promo video for ToysRUs on their youtube channel, talking up this reissue Masterpiece Optimus Prime toy.

It looks like it is exactly the same as the previous Hasbro version (with blue roller), and as pointed out by someone on TFW, they failed to properly transform their own toy (again), by constantly leaving the panel behind the cab's front wheel, unfolded, so it looks like the truck mode has these giant gaps at the back of the red cab area.

had slight issues with my Hasbro release, the two front panels did not close properly leaving a tiny gap whereas my Takara one closed better.
I wonder what is the price point for this release.

Not surprising since no one at Hasbro was ever involved in any of these MP designs. I've made this point before, if you put effort into designing something, you'd want to demonstrate it right.

Kind of disrespectful to the TT designers if you ask me.

Maybe Hasbro wants to continue the trend of mistransformed MPs on their boxes since they mistransformed Bumblebee on his MP box

Perhaps some of the inner structure or they're thinking the diecast is also in the chromed sections...

The weight can also be throwing them off, either way who they asked don't seem *that* knowledgeable but that's just coming from the fact I don't even know them

and a little in his spine, but you're right. There's probably 20 grams of die-cast in that figure & here they are gushing over it

This toy has now been officially announced as this year's ToysRUs Transformers exclusive at SDCC, which will mean a first release at that event, and then in TRU stores in America soon after.

Considering the character, I would think that it will be released here... but if it comes to ToysRUs, expect it to be a lot more than the previous releases.

The reissued Masterpiece Gen1 Optimus figure comes out in America after SDCC at the end of the month, but it has already been found at ToysRUs in Canada, so could show up here soon too (if we are getting it).

The packaging confirms that Hasbro are using TakaraTomy's Masterpiece numbering, with this one labelled as MP-10. The question now is, will there be one labelled as MP-9, or is this just copying the Japanese number, just for convenience (and so that it doesn't confuse fans as much as a new MP number for the same mould would do).

The price just keeps getting more and more expensive for each release of this figure too... now at about US$200, which would be at least AU$300 if we get it here.
