Default Places to go in QLD...

So... My missus and I are actually heading up for the weekend for her friend's wedding
    What's cool in QLD?
Just wanted some ideas as I'm heading off tonight... so... anything that gets posted before I go gets a shot at being looked at

I'll be staying at Coolangatta and will be going up to Brissie on Monday and then leaving from the airport that night.

    Cheers QLD'ers!

As a fellow comic fan, lcz, I would have to say MovieWorld is a must. Go see Catwoman and Hawkgirl and get your pic taken with them.

Yeah Movie World is a must see, if you had enough time you should hit up all the theme parks, but there's not enough time in one weekend..

Surfers Paradise also is a pretty sweet place to visit, with the beach and the esplanade and all that..

I won't be doing much in the next week (due to work related injury yesterday), so my schedule is pretty free. I only need to hobble into work at about 3pm on the monday, but everything before then is fairly open.

There are the various theme parks on the Gold Coast though, which can fill in a fair bit of time - Movieworld, Seaworld, Dreamworld, and for those who like to get a bit wet, there's Wet N Wild and Whitewater World.
Maybe one of our GC members will post up some suggestions.
Also, see if Bartrim did anything interesting enough to recommend, while he was there a couple months back.

    That I was Griffin.

Naturally the theme parks are awesome. If you get a chance go to minus5 bar. It's expensive ($30 for half an hr with 1 cocktail) but a kit basher like yourself will be well and truly impressed by the ice carvings as they are truly something to behold. All though it's not a theme park I will also recommend Infinity. It's in a mall (sorry the name escapes me) and it's about 25 different rooms each with a different lighting/sound set up to blow your senses away.

Also food wise, although it's expensive (but I quickly learned almost everything is on theGC) the Hard Rock Cafe does cook a real good steak. It's about the 4th or 5th one I've eaten at and was the best by far.

Feel free to send us a PM for any other advice.

The theme parks are definately a must. Dreamworld & Movieworld are my tips.

If your into car racing Indy is on this weekend, started yesterday & goes till sunday.

If your not into car racing avoid Surfers Paradise at all costs because there will be 500,000 people around there on the w/end and the roads are blocked. If you need to get to Southport or somewhere else north of Surfers travel on the M1.

Maybe hit up Titans Tower (comic book & collectables shop) at Young Street, Southport (on the outside of Australia Fair shopping Centre). They have different TF's in there everytime I go.

There's more to Qld than just the south-east.

Forget the wedding, keep driving north and see the REAL Queensland.
