Yep, as I had expected, there is a Trading Card Game pack for SDCC, and as you mentioned, it will be released in other countries. The other SDCC item that they have hinted at is probably an actual SDCC exclusive, like the card pack they had last year.
The box set has 8 character cards and 80 battle cards... which is why it has a hefty US$50 price tag (would be about AU$100 if released here).
In addition to the (retro styled) full-sized character cards of Blaster and Soundwave, it comes with half-sized character cards of Steeljaw, Ramhorn, Eject (the blue one), Ravage, Buzzsaw and Frenzy (the blue one)... all with their original toy box art.

An official image of the SDCC exclusive Botbots 10-pack has been released as well, showing the inside of the flip-open box. Some are moulds that are probably in the third series, so this would be their first official release with this set. One even appears to have a fabric hood over its head, as three of the figures are said to be cosplaying for the convention (one looks like Optimus Prime). These will be US$38.

Also from an official SDCC listing is an exclusive Transformers model kit from Flame Toys, of an IDW Optimus coloured as Nemesis Prime... priced at US$40.

And of course IDW has an exclusive comic cover version for the first issue of the new Ghostbusters mini-series comic... for US$10 (twice the price of a regular issue).

I think the cards with the classic box art look really good.

They won't fit in with the rest of the decks aesthetically and it will be interesting to see what they do for the alt mode on the back... given there were no alt modes on the box art....

I'll still pick up a set

Looks like IDW has three SDCC exclusives this year - the Ghostbusters exclusive cover comic mentioned earlier, along with an exclusive cover version of the Star Trek Vs Transformers softcover TPB and a signed HC of that recent GIJoe Vs Transformers comic.

Yep... official images here. The cards appear to have all of the same specs and abilities, but the art on the cards and box is completely different.
That sucks, and it was a lie when it was said that the SDCC set would be released elsewhere... as this isn't the same.

With Hasbro releasing the Spinister wave the other week, the exclusives and these panels, SDCC has become less of a "thing" for Transformer fans.

It will be interesting to see what (if any) new teases are shown.
