Bloody hell. Funny that security tagging this $75 item just ensured that the only people (hardcore collectors for whom the box condition matters) who would otherwise buy it wouldn't. Doubt a casual collector would pay this much for a G1 OP.

I also think it a silly thing to do, but... You'd be surprised. I mean, I just could not bring myself to pay $20 for a G1 Bumblebee when they turned up in Kmart. 35 years of "I never had that and always wanted it as a kid" pressing down on the back of my brain (you can apply it to 95+% of the old toys ), and yet... Nope. Not for that lump of unarticulated yellow plastic. If it had been $5... Ooh, I would have been really torn then. Certainly cannot bring myself to spend the $80 my local Kmart is asking for Prime. And I've no real problem with throwing chunks of money at toys, let me tell you; I would appear at first glance to be exactly who is expected to buy this stuff. But I'm not.

Even so, the things evaporated off the pegs. All of 'em. I don't expect the Primes that were there last weekend to stick around either. I really don't think that hardcore collectors (especially the mad MISB variety) are who these things are going to.

I actually misread the pricetag and that OP is $79 as you mentioned. If the box is mint, i'd pay as much as $50 for it without his trailer.

Maybe these will be bought by scalpers who then try to sell it for $150ea.
