Post Five Faces Of Darkness Outline And Full Scripts Available Online

*As seen at Jim Sorenson and Flint Dille's panel at TFCon LA 2022*

In late 2020/early 2021, Flint Dille began the clearout of his storage and the auctioning of many items from his 40 year career in animation, RPG and computer game writing. Among them was a binder containing the outline for parts 3-5 and scripts for parts 1-4 of Five Faces Of Darkness. Thanks to the contribution of its new owner - along with separate contributions of the part 5 script, voice actor call sheet, some model sheets and a key memo - all of this material is now available to view at the Sunbow Marvel Archive: https://sunbowmarvelarchive.blogspot...1986-1987.html

While there are a myriad of deleted or changed scenes across the miniseries. The most crucial is a late change between outline and full script, mandated by Hasbro. Originally, Shockwave was the Decepticon who harboured doubts about the Quintessons, being the most ancient Transformer still alive. When Galvatron refuses to hear him out about their allies' deception, he makes the conscious decision to seeks out Rodimus' help. Once the battle is over, he attempts to rejoin his fellow Decepticons in space, only to be blasted back down to the planet by Galvatron for his "treachery". Rodimus offers him refuge and he accepts. Shockwave is hailed by the Autobots as a hero, though the outline does note that how loyal he will actually be to them is a question for another day...

Directions from Hasbro to feature "in-store" toys and phase out products that they no longer sell has been a reliable element of Transformers cartoons, as Hasbro is footing the bill for those "30 minute commercials"... so they want to make sure that they focus on products that they are currently selling, regardless of how it affects the story.

There is certainly a lot to go through at that link of the new material... and I've certainly been swamped by so much material before at that site. Pretty much anyone who grew up during the 80s cartoon era will find something there that they remember watching.
