1992 thanks to Marvel UK - one advantage of being a Transformers fan in Australia is that both US and UK comics were sold in newsagents.

Another thing I liked about the G1 comics over the cartoon was how humans were initially fearful of the Transformers and were consequently very hostile against them - drawing no distinction between Autobots and Decepticons... perpetuated by the U.S. government's "Robot Master" propaganda campaign which made humans believe that all Transformers were a threat to them (the U.S. government was very reluctant to believe that the Transformers were divided into two warring factions). The U.S. government even had a special agency and special branch of the military dedicated to combatting Transformers (the I.I.I.* and R.A.A.T.** - G.I. Joe were also initially deployed against them. S.H.I.E.L.D.*** was aware of the Transformers threat but didn't take any action against them). I.I.I. and G.I. Joe soon became allies of the Autobots after they learnt of the truth about them. R.A.A.T. was closed down, their job replaced by the private sector (Blackrock).

    L: G1's agent Walter Barnett (I.I.I./R.A.A.T.), R: the movie's agent Reginald Simmons (Sector 7)

***Strategic Hazard Intervention, Espionage Logistics Directorate, although in 1984 it was known as Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division and in the Marvel movies universe it's the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.

Nah the discussion has a life of it's own now

I'll just add to it by saying I got PM Prime for free... back in the days when I was young & naïve.

    (Now I'm just naïve!)

Of course, and for some nostalgic reason I still bought them right to the end even though the 1991-1992 comics were reprints. <Shrug> they had pretty painted covers. Actually the UK continted to print Transformers comics way after 1992 - I was still buying the UK G1 collected comics from Marvel that were being released at the end of 1994 - at the same time as I was getting the UK G2 title from Fleetway:

(These comics were released in the same month!)

Ah, missed one. I'll fix up my numbers above then.
