Transformers and G.I. Joe comics license goes to Skybound

I picked up my copies of the first issue a couple weeks ago, and the comic store had four different cover versions for me.... which I thought was a lot already, but now looking at the tfwiki page, there are already 53 cover versions of just the first issue!!!

53 different cover versions... that's definitely a record for Transformers, but is that normal for big name titles these days?

I'd hate to be the sort of person who is a comic fan who is compelled to complete the set of cover variants.

Issue 5 of Void Rivals is out soon (or has been released), so a preview has been released, with spoilers on one of the covers...

The other two comics in the Energon Universe come out soon too, focussing on GIJoe, but including Transformers as one story universe - Cobra Commander and Duke.
