At Garden City on Friday...
Kmart - the newest thing looks to be the SS DLX wave 14 Sideswipe, which has been around for a couple months now through online sources, but now popping up at retail stores.
Another example of what open, window-less packaging is going to be leading to as more and more Transformers toylines go that way... two of the Cyberverse 2-pack combiners, one has Slug missing an arm, and one has Bumblebee missing its head. If you buy from a retail store, you MUST check over the contents to make sure nothing is missing or damaged. (at least you can do that at a store - if you bought online and something had fallen out, or someone had mis-handled the item before shipping it, you could be stuck with it if it came from overseas).
Meanwhile over at Target -
Still a small range, but had the newest wave 2 Studio Series Core toys with Spike.
In the mens clothing section were the new licensed TFs socks.
And at the front of the store were the new licensed TFs underwear.
I hadn't noticed this before (probably has been there a while and I never noticed) but FAO Schwarz is/was a very high end toy store in America, that was bought and sold a few times in the last 10 years (including by TRU just before they collapsed)... they have their own branded toys, but I didn't realise that they had managed to make their way to Australia.
For those old enough to remember the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks (it has a Transformers reference in it), there is a scene in it where he is in a toy store (FAO Schwarz) and starts dancing on a giant floor keyboard (a scene that has been homaged in a lot of other shows, including the Simpsons). If you look closely at the bottom of the shelf in this photo, they have a giant floor keyboard that you can buy.
