Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Very much an acquired taste more than a movie that can be enjoyed by the mainstream.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - Excellent and a cult classic.

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - An ok movie but nothing special

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - A great movie which the mainstream really dug due to a good mix of clever humor and action as well as an environmental theme.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - A WTF? movie which just went to the way weird and over the top.

Star Trek VI:The Undiscovered Country - One of my favorites, it showed the Fedaration as a not so 'We are all happy and tolerant' society and it had a good mix of action and political intrigue.

    Next Generation Movies

Star Trek: Generations - WTF? Dull and 'out there' plot and a really crappy return and demise of Kirk.

Star Trek: First Contact - Overall a good movie but nothing special but several bad 'dumb down' retcons were made to the Borg and some of the Trek Earth history. It's biggest crime was the introduction of the 'Sexy Borg queen' which made the borg from an unstoppable and inhuman cybernetic force to something laughable as a clear attempt at making them more appealing to the general audience through sex appeal.

Star Trek: Insurrection - Was stupidly crap and barely remember it due to this.

Star Trek: Nemeis - A clear attempt at trying to mainstream the franchise by incorporating ridiculously stupid crap such as 'Picard does donuts with the dune buggy' and overall a lame plot but not as bad as Insurrection.

The Borg Queen is a hottie.

I'm looking forward to this movie... a lot of the technology, cosmetics, costumes on the original Enterprise looks/feels outdated by today's sensibilities (e.g.: mini-skirts for female officers, huge chunky buttons etc.)... it'll be interesting to see how they deal with these things as the trailer makes it look more "gritty" as we've come to expect from more contemporary movies.

I have only seen Nemesis once and have since removed from my memory.

I only watched the motion picture the other day, and my dad was saying when it came out it was momentues ocasion because it was the first time the original cast members were together again since the show other than that now a bad movie overall it was almost just a movie to "show off" what they could do with special effects.

STII is pretty cool but my two favourites would have to be Voyage Home and First Contact havent watched any of the others in awhile hmmmm.... i think i know now what i must do this weekend WATCH STAR TREK MOVIES!!!!

i dont know, look at all those people who play with 'Bratz' girls

I think i heard some PC looney, possibly the official star trek website, saying that they change 'to bodly go where no MAN has gone b4" to "...where no one has gone b4" for the Next Generation to be more PC, talk about being touchy feely, its not sexist, man, in that context means humanity.

    miniskirts rock ask twiggy

Nemesis i believe was trying to appeal to car hoons, there was no story at all, they show up on Romulus have dinner and shoot a bit, then try to tie up the star trek universe by having the romulans becoming friends, its like World peace but for the entire Star trek galaxy

So by your account movies 2,4,6,8, and 10 where each better than the movie that preceded them, so the odds and evens law of Star Trek movies is still in full effect then, unfortunately that means this next movie will suck.

But Star Trek 12 should rock!

For the record I kinda like Generations because it was like the last episode of Nexrt Gen, and that jerk Kirk got killed of! Pretty so-so as a movie though.

And sadly for those who didn't know Ricardo Montalbán passed away last month.

    RIP Khan.

By that logic all male Starfleet officers should look like G.I. Joe with Kung Fu grip. Okay, some of them do have Kung Fu Grip.

Dang that Borg Queen is hawt. I'd so assimilate her.

Only in a weightless environment. Star Trek ships have artificial gravity so that's not a problem. I liked how the Enterprise NX-01 (as captained by your beloved Jonathan Archer) didn't have fully functioning artificial gravity in some parts of the ship and was sometimes offline due to problems. The Enterprise series is a must see series, to lead right into the original series (explains so much of the Federation, why it exists, and how it started). Hopefully this new movie doesn't contradict anything in Enterprise, to still have me recommend seeing it. Every other Star Trek series makes more sense after seeing Enterprise.

Without any spoilers there are already considerable continuity discrepancies based on the trailer alone and other official release nitpick material.

    So its either:

    - Alternate timeline (strongest possibility given the franchise history and other rumors floating around)
    - In practice a reboot but officially it isn't (like AHM)
    - Total retcon
