Transformers questions by newbies, and not-so-newbies

ok heres a question
why do transformers have noses and mouths?
cant they just talk through a speeker or something?

In the IDW G1 continuity, they show a species on Gorlam Prime start upgrading their bodies in a cyborg like way and then eventually become completely machine.
If the Transformers had an origin like this, then having a face and nose and mouth would simply be a throwback or reference to their previous form

Sometimes in the comic Optimus Prime was shown to have a speaker underneath his faceplate.

Masterpiece Convoy/Prime also has a grill underneath the faceplate too... although it kinda looks like gritted teeth too... kinda like this:


G2 Prime once had a mouth in a nightmare...


...but it later turned out that G2 Prime just had a bunch of KISS Play style hentacles instead. Eew.


...or just raw wires and circuitry.


The G1 book "The Great Car Rally" showed Prime with a regular humanlike mouth!


And in the G1 cartoon Prime just had nothing...

Where the hell does his voice come out from? Maybe we're better off not knowing... :/

fair enough, but how come some characters actually have the faceplate? like soundwave and optimus prime, is it to hide a revealing scar, or is the mouthplate not working?

Could be either personal preference or for protection. Maybe they have some special important components behind it

Universe Unicron (the re-release of Armada Unicron) is not being released here, because it is a store exclusive in America, and too big for any retailer to want here as an exclusive.
