Rainmakers can sometimes refer to other generic cartoon seekers, not just the three (blue, green & yellow seekers) in the episode Divide & Conquer... which is why Masterpiece Sunstorm is also referred to as a Rainmaker by fans (because there was a yellow seeker in both episodes).
And even with animation variations/errors, there is some debate as to whether the yellow/orange seeker from the first episode is the same as the one from the Rainmaker episode... or that either of them can be called Sunstorm now that the character has been retconned by Dreamwave into a demi-god.
(it also doesn't help that FunPub officially named their "first episode" Seekers as "Rainmakers" for BotCon 2013... adding to the confusion among fans)
The first official use of the name Sunstorm was on the orange redeco of the Starscream toy (for ehobby) in 2003, at a time when ehobby were releasing other cartoon-inspired redecos (like Hauler, Astrotrain and Golden Lagoon Jazz) with a fan-derived name of Sunstorm.
Dreamwave then took the character (name) in 2004 and created a demi-god Decepticon from it, ignoring why ehobby named it Sunstorm (the name the fans were using for the yellow Gen1 cartoon cannon-fodder seeker).
It's worth noting that the first Sunstorm toy (by Ehobby in 2003) was entirely orange, but Sunstorm toys since then have been either yellow or orange... which can cover both "Sunstorm" Seekers from the Gen1 cartoon.
(I might be in the minority, but I think that both yellow cartoon Seekers can be Sunstorm, and he is NOT the demi-god "created" by Dreamwave - he is just another regular seeker)
