I've got WST Megatron/Starscream/Soundwave, and don't have any issues with these figures. Great little guys made from quality plastic; I've only transformed them a few times but have not noticed any stress marks. I imported them a few years back and had no issues getting tiny MISB Megatron (in tiny gun mode) through customs.

Yup. Also the disclaimer text in the image says, "Cassettrons other than Ratbat sold separately."

I've just bought a loose 'G1 Megs' with a brown coloured pistol grip. He's also got brown hands, black helmet, black trigger & black nozzle. Structurally, he looks like a G1 Megs but with dubious colours compared to the real McCoy. Never seen anything like it but then again I am a novice. Wanting to know if this is a KO. Not too worried coz it cost me very little.

Sounds like you've got the 16S reissue which was available in 2001 & 09.

I would advise you to check out a toy's authenticity before purchasing if you're unsure. Nothing worse than finding out that a toy is fake after you've bought it. Although under consumer law the seller is required to refund your money (since legally they never should have sold that toy to you in the first place).

On the Seibertron podcast one of them mentioned that their Platinum Grimlock's chrome is coming off. Is that normal on this edition of Grimlock? I'm not so much interested in getting Grimlock but rather the Combaticon's so it's not a deal killer, but I might go with the regular Combaticon's over the Platinum Edition if Grimlock is an issue.

Thanks Sinnertwin. I still don't know how to upload photos, hence my poor attempt at describing the item.

Gok, the photo in your first hyperlink looks about right. I got Megs minus any accessories for $15 from a renter who just moved in near my street. I bought it coz it looked interesting with the different colour scheme. So not too worried about consumer law if it turned out to be a KO.

I did a bit more 'investigating'. There is no year indentification on the mould (that I could see). However, there are the words 'Made in China Takara' on the side panel of the trigger section. The fusion canon from my G1 Reissue Megs fits onto this Megs!

I don't really care if its a 16S Reissue or some other iteration. All I need to know is whether this Megs is likely a legit item or a KO.

I don't recall a KO of that particular colour scheme being sold.
The stamping above his right hip on the trigger which reads "Made in China Takara" indicates that it is indeed a reissue. It should also have a set of numbers to the left of the copyright stamping running vertically in robot mode, ie B1209.
