I would say it's the colour of polished brass, about the same as his G1 toy, if that helps any.

I'm looking at starting to collect G1TF. Mainly Encore Reissue because I will remove them from the packaging & more affordable. All you MISB/MOSC Original G1 collectors can breathe a sigh of relief.

I came across Commemorative Series range. Are these the same toy as the Encore Reissue but in a different packaging or totally different altogether? If different, is there a preference? Thanks in advance.

The commemorative series, depending on the figure will have either shorter smoke stacks, longer safety regulated missiles, non-firing spring mechanisms & unchromed black plastic guns & missiles, amongst other variations.
I'd be inclined to lean towards the encore versions, even though they may have slight variations to the orginals like tampographed symbols & different coloured visors.
These are the reisues i have from the CS. For me they were a lot cheaper to acquire and dont have the long/unchromed missiles & gun

Don't know if you are after it but... For Powermaster Optimus Prime the CS version is not the same as the US G1 release but rather the Japanese Masterforce release which has shorter stacks, but many parts including the short stacks are chrome. So while he looks like he got safety changes made he actually didn't, he's just based on the Takara version.

The CS seekers have crutches like length in their missles/guns. Encore will have more G1 replica accurate accessories, other than that, theres the non chrome on autobot missles for CS. Prolly be selective in what youll grab from CS as they are cheaper, but also grab from Encore coz those have improved on the mold - e.g. Jazz. Hoist on the other hand CS will be fine, he's retained his Chrome.

Probably worth noting that only Skids and Hoist from that list were released in Encore (and I think both were shelfwarmers).

I'd love to see more Encore toys. 23 releases just aren't enough.

hey guys i finally got my Bluestreak and Prowl MP's yesterday and loving them!!

Question is; im new to collecting the MP series, my first was Starscream and i found him to be real BIG in size and these guys heaps smaller. Is Starscream as big as Megatron or Optimus? I thought the cars would be at a height that would challenge Starscream at least.

    cheers

What changes did they make to Jazz for that release?

I can't agree with you more!! I would support pretty much any G1 toy being released this way, especially if the prices were actually reasonable. I'd happily pay $30 for most of the early deluxe figures, maybe even more.

I've heard that it's due to an effort to scale the robot modes per the TV show. from MP10ish onwards

There are obviously still going to be some issues especially since the starscream mold began with MP03.

The puzzling thing is that there were toys released in the Takara Collection that weren't released in the Hasbro Commemorative Series e.g. Blitzwing. The Takara one was going for close to $200 at one stage because of it's limited release. I opted for e-Hobby Overcharge which was actually cheaper at the time. Crazy
