I think it's joints that are used for moving the body parts, but not necessarily required for the transformation. For Rodimus you have the two shoulder joints, but you probably could count his ankles and neck, as his head and feet are moveable. Even if that mobility is intended for the transformation, those joints give you the option to move/pose those limbs, albeit rather limitedly.
Maybe look on the tfwiki.net to see if they have any articles on articulation or poseability.

Hello, not sure if this has been asked, but is there a reputable web site and/or article that talks about the history and relationship between the Transformer cartoons and toys (i.e. initially the toys were already there and the cartoons made use of those toys as characters, but at a later stage did the characters influence / lead to the creation of toys) ?

I hope that made sense. Thanks.

This is kinda general in a "bigger picture" sorta way:

    Otherwise maybe Wikipedia:

Comes down to what you call "reputable" tho.
Which brings us to where we are today...

I can't think of any site off the top of my head, but I've seen quite a few interesting articles on the topic over the years. As a basic summary, the 1984-85 Transformers toys were existing toys (or toys already in the pipeline) that were given a coherent storyline by Hasbro. Most of the 1986 'movie' toys with the exception of Ultra Magnus were designed by Floro Dery as cartoon characters first and then turned into toys. Powermaster Optimus Prime, the Classic Pretenders and half the Action Masters were some of the first examples of existing characters turned into new toys. Most of the toys since 1986 other than the conspicuous exceptions (2007 Movie, ROTF etc) were designed as toys first. Animated seems to have been a product of Derrick Wyatt's basic designs turned into Hasbro products.

Are there any Australian release dates and/or pricing info for the Movie 'Human Alliance' toys?

Did a search, didn't find any.

At the moment it looks like August as a Kmart exclusive:

    From TFWiki:

    http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Vector_Prime

Vector Prime has some significant differences between the Takara and Hasbro releases. Takara's release uses a matte gray plastic with a lighter, burgundy-tinted brown, uses firmer plastic for his clear-blue parts, and has more intricate paint applications. Hasbro's release has a higher-contrast color scheme of white with chocolate-brown, more flexible clear-blue plastic (for safety reasons), and less-intricate paint applications.

It is a five pack that consists of Blurr, Buzzsaw, Longrack, Runamuck & Deluxe Armada Prime with a new deco (that looks very much to be in line with the colours he sported in the PS2 game)

out at Big W now for about $68 for the sale
