(And I would say that's not a bad price if you want an unusual G1 Transformer. I'm tempted myself.)
Freaking cool Sky Shadow! Thanks. I've found another variant colour! By my right as Supreme Being of my collection I've changed her gender and renamed her Twin Spin. (It was either that or Top Twist but that sounds like a bread)
She's just entered the barracks of my Autobot Drone Army. Pics later.

A modernized T-Rex mode would have been nice

Yeah I still haven't gotten over that

"Salt" (salto) means "jump" in Spanish, hence the name "Saltman Z" for the Jumpstarter.

I thought MP Grimlock could be positioned in both old skool "Godzilla" and modern "Jurassic Park" poses. Either way, it's a mechanical robot that looks like a T-Rex, not a realistic T-Rex itself. And if they were to do Grimlock with a realistic beast mode I would prefer them to make it a velociraptor as per his Beast Wars form (BW T-Rex is too iconically associated with Megatron too).

You can but it ends up looking stupid just like when you do that with G1 Grimlock due to the tail pointing up and the way too small head.

MP Grimlock appears to have the ability to move the tip of his tail from side to side but not up or down.

Well considering that the MP line is meant to be going for G1-accuracy, I think it's understandable that they use the old skool T-Rex design. The MP Seekers sacrificed G1 accuracy for better jet mode accuracy, and they've been criticised for that, so I guess TakaraTOMY are going back to the original plan of making MPs more G1-accurate rather than going for alt mode precision (which is really what Binaltech was for - the decision to make MP Starscream alt-mode accurate was Kawamori's decision which has met some criticism so yeah... I don't blame TakaTOM for moving away from that)

Ultra. It's Cybertron Defense Red Alert. He was also the 2006 BotCon Beast Wars Megatron.

And I'll be getting both Universe Countdown and Darkwing (and Overkill. And probably even RiD Bruticus too). Finally, after all the boring homages, Universe is on a roll.

What year is the JAPANESE release of the animated movie set? (English version is set in 2005). I seem to remember reading somewhere that it is set in 2010, but apparently that's when season 3 takes place...
Which brings us to where we are today...

The Kowamori mods to make the jet mode more realistic did not have to affect the robot mode as much as it did. The only reason that the whole rear assemblies of the jet mode are hanging of Starscream's hips rather than attached to his legs is because Kawamori wanted them to, that's all. It wasn't necessary, he had already improved the alt mode without impacting the bot mode's G1 tribute as far as the mold design is concerned.

I am sure that if the robot mode mods had not been made, no one would of had an issue with the mold changes. The color and plastic used in the original release are another story which thankfully ended with Greenscream.
