It was a good film. Better than the first. The plot was a little too Saturday morning cartoon-ish for my liking.

Saw it again today, and found that it was a lot better the second time, because I wasn't trying to work out what was going on, and my expectations weren't as high. It was more fun to watch after the first time. I'd probably give it an equal rating to the first now, and recommend others see it a second time.

If someone killed off the humans I'd give it a higher rating than 3/5, the first movie was better as it had a lot less of the soft porn cleavage shots in the main battle which annoyed the hell out of me.

Meh, I never really paid attention to those shots. Sure she's good looking enough in makeup in the movie, but really, seen it enough to not get hung up on it and I really just paid more attention to the surrounding action instead.

It was more exciting looking at the home and away chick as she was something different from Megans tits.

And the reason why I gave it 4.5 out of 5 was that there was a section of really poor cgi that was hard to mistake, when megatron was in tank mode in the forest. Worst effect in the whole movie, seemed rushed.

The shot of Demolishor on the roadway, coming out from behind a building towards the bridge that had Optimus on it, was really poorly done as well. It looked like it was superimposed onto the scene and they forgot to do any lighting or shadowing effects.

Saw the movie again today on IMAX - I thought it was better the second time as well. Though I prefer watching it on the regular screen - some of the scenes were just too blurry for me and the large screen made it hard to follow everything.

Hey guys, I haven't been here for a while due to a combination of lack of time and self-imposed ROTF media backout (wanted as much of it to be a surprise as possible).

I thought the film was excellent! It did pretty much everything I wanted, which was:

    1. Take everything from the first film and push it as far as possible
    2. Develop the transformers as characters (the Megs/Starscream banter made me want to squeal like a little girl)
    3. Stay true to transformers without merely being two hours of fan service

Other positives (in terms of fan service) include Frank Welker playing Soundwave, Starscream actually sounding like Starscream, incorporating the Matrix of Leadership, and having Constructicons/Devastator. Also, the bit where Jetfire united with Optimus made me want to jump out of my seat.

Also, I liked the story, the acting was solid across the board (special mention to the voice actors who stole the show from the in-the-flesh actors), and the action was good.

4.5 out of 5 from me. I probably would give the original 4.5 as well.

EDIT: One other bit of fan service I forgot to mention...

The bit where Megatron says 'yeeeeessssss' was AWESOME! When he said that I was like 'No way! You gotta be kidding me!' It's awesome how they can grab all these references from all kinds of transformers and roll them into one film (that includes the concept of Allspark fragments bringing someone to life, which was pioneered in TF Animated ).
