Wanted items:
eHobby Orion Pax and Dion
Wheels turned out ok. With masking its always a lottery as to what kind of finish I get.
Steering wheel turned out less than perfect but I'll use it.
Ok to mount the rear wheels I needed plastic tubing of varying sizes
Cut down the original stub.
Cut tubing to size. I had to do a couple of test runs to get the size right.
The smaller diameter fits on the stub, the larger on the back of the brake disc.
Voila!
For the front I had to cut down and drill the original assembly. Original on right, modified on left.
I got just the right diameter so it fits snug with no glue.
Poly caps hold the wheels in place and allow it to spin.
That's SO FREAKIN AWESOME! \\How are you going to smoothen the sculpted bits out? Looking forward to your updates
Dude. Friggen awesome!
Gonna tint the windows too? No less that 25%!
Wonder if I can get a Classics BB/CliffJumper modded into a RCS 172..
is it done yet?! I wanna see it!!
nice work gamblor... keep us updated!
I was trying to remove a pin and had the bright idea to drill a hole and bash it out from the other side. Not a good idea. I busted the whole post out by accident. Luckily it was a clean break and I glued it back with Tamiya cement. I used a soldering iron to get the pins out.
The sides are roughed out and painted with Mr Surfacer as a filler.
Here's what I'm using to get it to shape. From top to bottom, various foam sanding sticks, knife, files and sandpaper.
I also drew some new dials. I ordered clear and white decal sheets from HLJ. I've never used these before so it should be interesting.
The ones in the black box are the finished dials
I needed logos so I drew those up as well, tracing some scans.
Woah! That Illustrator file with the logos looks amazing. Would you be happy to share that?
hahaha... there's no such thing as "kph" - the proper abbreviation is km/h
Any chance you can correct it? Considering all the effort you've gone through to make the car mode so superbly realistic I would hate to see it set back by something as simply as a speedo sticker.
Eagerly waiting for Masterpiece Meister
