I think the cricket season will temper this as I can play my WiiU while watching the cricket at the same time.
I can wait the year. I generally share your view of Xbox owners

I personally would love to own one of those formally burried ET games. I would never clean the dirt off it and keep it on display
(I did a search for this being mentioned on our site after I typed up the following, and I see that I missed this posting a year ago.)

There was a great documentary on SBS last night, and I hope it is repeated again for people to look out for.
It was called "Atari: Game Over", and focused on the sudden collapse of Atari at the end of 1983, and blaming the collapse on the ET game... which had the myth of being buried in a rubbish dump in September of that year.

The mythical burial site was eventually found, but in reality, very few copies of the game were found in the dump site.

I was also under the impression that the game was never released, and all the cartridges were disposed of in this mythical dump site. However, the game was indeed released, with about a million copies made, so I'm confused as to why it was such a rare game that people had spent the last thirty years wanting to dig up this burial site just to own the game.

It was very informative for giving an in-depth history of Atari, from its start to its end... with the doco ending with the unearthing of thousands of squashed Atari games and consoles, witnessed by hundreds of faithful followers/fans.

After not buying Super Smash Bros for Wii U, I am going to have to get it soon with the release of Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 amiibo coming. As well as the new Link amiibo and HD release of Twilight Princess

I was going to ask if anyone watched the latest Nintendo Direct.

    Some good things in there.

Left me fairly cold, but at least there's something to look forward to before support is dropped for NX. I managed to get a nice collection of good games for the Wii U so I guess it worked out well despite it's short lifespan. Dreamcast 2.0. Almost

So do retailers generally have better console deals going around December? I'm wondering whether to buy my PS4 now or wait until next month to see if any Christmas deals pop up.

Or am I wasting my time?

Bookmark the ozbargain page for ps4 deals, that should give you a good heads up. Hard to predict if there will be more deals, there was a wave of sales a few weeks back.

Your friend is wise. Listen to him.

Most games that are multiplatform will run and look best on a properly specced PC and if you buy properly, shouldn't be much more than 1k, perhaps less.

I would only have a PS4 on the side of the PC if you are interested in the exclusives.

Also for those narrow view people who don't get it - You can play PC games on your living room while sitting on the couch with controllers. If you choose to sit at a desk with a small screen, that's your business. You can also plug in a PS4 to a small desk and monitor and play it if inclined - It's a choice not a rule.

The Atari doco actually makes me emotional lol, knowing how it pretty much destroyed Howard Warshaw's life hits me really hard. Especially after he made Yar's Revenge which is a brilliant game.
