I think every player needs to remember that we were _all_ noobs at some stage. (^_^)
Right again, though I have been playing Infinity since 2007 It's taken some time to master the game, in particular among games it has a steep learning curve, but once you get past that things really open up. The best games are the ones that swing from side to side like a seesaw, and when it comes to gaming a hard fought last second defeat is better than an overwhellming one sided victory any day in my book. Besides they make the best stories no one wants to hear in detail how so and so's superior army crushed their foe with superior numbers (spamming) or by the book strategy, they want to hear stories of insane heroics, of battles turning around due to people taking 1 in a 100 chances, or how glorious victory was denied to you due to the cowardice of your soliders (to name a few examples).

In any case the local level of competition is now at the point where there's no need to hold back. Last Sunday I got owned in my first game, so I deployed one of the most deadly weapons of the United Nations of Pan Oceana the Cutter. A 5 meter tall heavy machine gun wielding robot, that can cloak. it's a terrifying warmachine for a noob to face, it had long been hiding in the cupboard while the more friendly non cloacking robot the Armoured Cavalry took its spot, but no more the Cutter has returned. Of course those with a little experience know it's limitations, but even then its damn scary.

Against those of moderate skill levels I like to use experimental forces, things I haven't tested before, unfortunately this can go pear shaped if the test proves to effective, but its usualy a good way to try something new.

Mind you there is one guy I know who is absolutely of the scale in terms of skill, gung ho play style, and sheer luck. He's a bit on the other end of the extreme. Although he doesn't own noobs for kicks, he always seems to outmanouvere you, it can be disheartaning to play him sometimes, particularly for new people. he is getting better though.
