A translated interview with the JP Designer in charge of the Masterpiece line (except MP3 Starscream), hints at a new mould MP for 2010 that relates to the significance of that year in Japan (it was their name for Gen1 season 3, post-movie episodes).
The interivew itself is about the Buster Optimus figure and he talks about why they made the EZ/Legends Devastator (has a bit of a dig at Hasbro for not doing one). The hint that there should be another Masterpiece released next year in Japan should mean that it is already well into its design and development process (18 month process).

- Hirinori Kobayashi came up with the idea of Buster Optimus Prime and designed the muffler > gun transformation. It was also difficult to recreate the exact hue of purplish blue with the plastic, which he considers as more film accurate.
He belongs to domestic product team, and for ROTF he has been mainly responsible for some modifications of the products aimed at Japanese release.
He explains the reason of developing EZ Devastator as, "While RD-16 Devastator is impressively huge, its strength is in gimmicks. I thought Japanese TF fans might not be satisfied with it, since even 25 years old (G1) item achieved Robot > Vehicle > Combine modes."
He was in charge of all Masterpiece products, except for MP-3. He again hints of the new MP next year 2010, which has a significance to Transformers. ("2010" is s Japanese title for G1 season 3.)
One of his favourite (of the products he developed) is Rescue Hero Gobots Chopper!
