Review 10-004c - Power Armor Optimus Prime
Series - TF2 Movie
Sub-line - Legends
Size - Legends
New/remould/redeco - redeco
Wave - 5
Released here - December 2009
Approximate Retail Price - $8
Approximate Size - 8cm
Allegiance - Autobot
Alt-mode - Truck
Main Features/Gimmicks - none
Main Colours - Dark blue, grey, red.
Main Accessories - none
My Difficulty rating (out of 5) - 1
Stability - Holds together well, and stands firm.
Poseability/articulation - Standard amount for a Legends.
Playability - Good in both modes, and easy enough to convert to enhance playability.
My Thoughts - Hasbro are obviously learning that if they need to keep the line fresh for the retailers, they don't need to do major redecos that kids/parents won't buy (because they don't recognise them as cast characters). They just do a minor redeco, which counts as new product for retailers who wouldn't know the difference between redeco and new mould, and their primary customers still get the chance to buy toys of cast characters months after the retailers stopped selling the original versions (TV shows go for at least a year, and a movie takes several months to come out on DVD). This Optimus even has the flame decos, so still passes as the Movie Optimus with its red and blue. And I like this 2009 version of the Movie Optimus Legends toy, giving it a more accurate look than the 2007 mould.
Overall Recommendation Rating (out of 10) - 7 (buy it if cheap, or you can't get the original version)
