Lanyards are small and discreet, but not many people wear them in public, so would be easy to spot without being 'overbearing' to what you are wearing to feel too weird wearing one. Still, whatever is attached to the lanyard, if anything, needs to be done tastefully to make people feel comfortable wearing it in public.
I don't recall recommending a pin - it's probably about as hard to spot as a keychain (probably harder), but I find lanyards are easier to spot than wristbands.Originally Posted by Starscream212

Also compare the stickers we used last Sunday with my Transformers wristwatch:
I find the sticker is more visible, particularly from afar. During the fair I had several people ask me about the sticker (one person asked me if there was a Transformers convention happening somewhere nearby); so people were clearly noticing them. But people very seldomly notice that I wear a Transformers watch. You can see that watch in that shot because I'm deliberately holding it up, but otherwise it just wherever my wrist is, which usually isn't immediately visible (cos your wrists are usually hanging next to your thighs - and as attractive as my legs are, people still don't notice (probably because they're too busy perving on my sexy man legs*)).
The lanyard card would be roughly a similar size to that sticker. You can also use alligator clips to attach them to your clothes rather than have them dangling on a lanyard, like we had at last year's convention:
My card is obscured in this shot, but you can clearly see the card on kup's jacket.
When people look at me the first piece of TF apparel they notice is my shirt or hat. Secondly they might notice my belt if I'm wearing it. Then after that they might notice my shorts. The _last_ thing they notice is that I also wear a TF watch, and the majority of people don't notice this at all.
