So last December I moved from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I'm initially living with my inlaws in the equivalent of a one bedroom house (separate from the main house thankfully), so space is at a minimum. Also, because this isn't _my_ space, and our living here is transient, I'm not really gonna whip out the collection. Rather, I've setup my one Ikea Detolf in my small lounge room, and display my most recent acquisitions interwoven with some of my favorites and since space is so limited, I get the opportunity to rearrange quite often.
Here's some photos of what's showing now:
From the bottom up:
Animated Autobots
I've always been hugely into Animated and with Arcee around, I thought I'd whip up a small display. I thought it would be cool to display Earth vs. Cybertron Autobots instead of the traditional Autobot vs. Decepticon display. It would be even better with an Elita One instead of an Arcee giving reason for the contention between Optimus and Sentinel. Prowl and Jazz could easily be added as counterparts, and I'm waiting for Cybertron Ironhide to be my opposite to Earthen Ratchet.
Gosh, she's purty
Henkei Autobot Cars
I've just completed doubling up on all of the G1 oriented Henkei releases because I just had to have a spare set of these guys on display. Rather than cramming all the Henkei Autobots together, I wanted to just focus on the early cars and try to setup a display that featured both modes of a mold where possible. I initially wanted to sequester off the "emergency service" oriented guys all in alt mode, but space was just too tight to have Inferno like that. When I get more space, I have a Universe Blades that I hope to whip out and join them, finally displaying them that way.
Bling bling!
Japanese Domestics
Right before I moved, I received the Alternity Swifts, and was already a huge fan of the line in general. They were the first figures to be put on display. Last weekend, I opened my Donald and Mickey and added them here due to the shelf's roominess. I'm keen to add Starscream, Skywarp and Buzz when they shipped, although I think Buzz is fundamentally quite different to Mickey and Donald. Mickey and Donald are mechs IMO, as they are piloted in both modes. Whereas Buzz is himself in robot mode, and his alt mode is really the vehicle that his "robot" mode pilots. I also just think the Pixar stuff is quite aesthetically different from the original Disney stuff. We'll see in June.
Flying Bots
This was probably the second display I setup because Classics Skyfire is always on display for me, being one of my favorite two Transformers, and the Snowman kit was one of my first shipments after moving. Ghost Starscream and Ranjet arrived shortly thereafter, and the other coneheads have always been favorites. I had to whip out Cyclonus too, whom is just gorgeous. Nothing says "I'm a bad ass" more than having a perfectly polished gun! With Defender quickly approaching, I think this display will get replaced with a display of 86 Movie cast members.
I polish my Nightstick
ROTF Outcasts on the root
These are some of the select ROTF releases I've recently acquired as well. New and/or good enough to still be out, but not as loved or as display-worthy as their friends "on the inside".
