+ Make sure the location is accessable, so people don't pull out because it's too much effort. Don't hold your Townsville meet on Magnetic Island, if you can avoid it!

+ Give people 2-3 weks notice. Any more, they'll forget about it, too short notice they'll have other plans

    (:
Thanks, i kinda figured that. only one problem, i got kiddies on the weekend and didn't want to mix the two activities.

Well, at least that puts the Townsvillian count up to... 5 1/2.

I'm not sure about the kiddie type activities. I myself don't do board-games. And i also don't do night-clubbing, so draging a big group to the nearest energon pub is a no-no. ANd i'm guessing the more guys show up, the more bodyguards i'll need!
    .
I don't have the greatest mod-cons, like lack of stereo for eg.

How long is a tf meet ment to go for?
Are there any warhammer players? theres a tournment coming up in july or something.

Do i have to cater for someones kids that are being dragged along?

Perhaps a late morning meetup somewhere like a public shopping centre to familiarise yourselves with each other first, and to get a feel for what sort of meets to organise (or just talk it over with the others you already know are interested).
I think if you have a meet at someone's place, have everyone bring a plate of food (pre-prepared or something for a BBQ if the place has one), and some various random/new toys for everyone else to play and look over (there's thousands of TFs toys - most are bound to bring something others haven't seen/played with before). Games and activities can be optional, depending on what the interests are of those you know are coming (party games and general sociallising seemed to work at the Melb meets, while boardgames seem to be popular at the Sydney meets).

Just have a look over some of the more recent big meets in the meetup section, and see what formats have been popular, or would work with your location/members.

So are female Transformer fans called "Fembots"? Is that the slang for it?

yes. all these ideas are awesome. I'm used to anime marathons meets, so this is going to be interesting. Especially when everyone wants to be interactive. At the anime meets, everyone has their own space and we yell at each other from across the room! No one moves from their fave spot untill food arrives, or someone relises that they have to pee! The last marathon i went to was like 2 1/2 days worth of anime watching, with a break in between to let people breath in fresh air, stand up and play bowling with the cans.

yyyyaaaaaaa, not like that would work in a tf meet.

i just hope people have got transport, or else this meet is screwed!
